MKB2 IMPACT MICHAEL K BRYANT II
EVOLUTION OF VIEW [EARLY ON] >
I am a Miami-native Architect shaped by extensive global travels and diverse exposure to many cultures. Having a deep passion for architecture since the age of 5, I regularly explored my curiosity in design through any available avenue including drawing, deconstructing old race car sets, stacking pennies, configuring VCR tapes, and arranging plywood boards to construct bridges, buildings, harbors, airports, urban grids, and cityscapes.
I pursued my design interest and education in multiple regions of the US and abroad. These included Design and Architecture Senior High in Miami, University of Oregon, and Danish Institute for Study Abroad Copenhagen. While living in and visiting 17 countries in Europe, I observed and experienced different lifestyles, values, and design from new perspectives. I frequently challenged my viewpoints on design in response to new exposures, learnings, and observations.
EVOLUTION OF VIEW [NOW] >
I often strive to find synergies between buildings and urban environments through my professional experience at Mithun on different typologies in a variety of scales and phases. Some typologies include master planning, education, transit oriented development, and mixed-use residential. My project experience involves various project phases including, master planning, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, and Construction Administration.
I think of design as a collaborative process which depends on the influences of outside viewpoints related and unrelated to architecture, expressed through the lenses of research, innovation, and creativity.
ADDITIONAL ENGAGEMENT >
Coupled with my professional experience, I am also involved in the Justice Equity Diversity Inclusion working group (JEDI) at Mithun in addition to serving as the Allied Associates Liaison for the National Organization of Minority Architects Northwest Chapter (NOMA NW)
MOTIVATION >
My most important motivating philosophy is “Live To Impact”, which I aspire to do so in both the design profession and in everyday life.
