KØBENHAVNS HOVEDBANEGAARD

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK

The current Copenhagen Central Station is located in the city center and close to the beginning of the Vesterbro neighborhood. Future growth plans call for a new additional entry hall housing a high speed platform for (German, Swedish, and France) high speed trains, business class lounge, family lounge, retail, and ticket offices.  KØBENHAVNS HOVEDBANEGAARD is a shed extension composed of photovoltaic glass, medal screens, concrete columns, steel beams and girders. Underneath the shell lies a grand hall composed of lounges, restaurants, offices, drop off zones, cycle parking, transfer zones and platforms. KØBENHAVNS HOVEDBANEGAARD is heavily inspired by the areas industrial past and surroundings, however it introduces a new element being the organism. The organism ranges from the natural green screens, people inhabiting the space, water collection, and wood furnishings. The result is an organism existing in a postindustrial environment.
